History of Burr Ridge
The Village of Burr Ridge was not officially incorporated until 1956. However, it can trace its history back to 1834 when Joseph Vial purchased the land the village now sits on and builds a log cabin. Mr. Vial was a very prominent resident of the area who operated the local hotel and stagecoach stop. He was also very active in local politics.
As time passed, the area changed hands often and was home to various farms and industries. In 1917 the area began to be built into a neighborhood that everyone referred to as Burr Ridge in reference to the Bur trees lined on the ridge on the hill. Eventually, the town grew to its current size and was incorporated in 1956.

Burr Ridge is a beautiful little village that is considered one of the nicest areas to live near Chicago.
