This family-owned company was founded by two best friends who after several visits to Chicago and its suburbs, fell in love with the place and decided to make Illinois the home they would share with their significant other and the place in which they would build their families. Both Nick and Alex worked as crew members to a Maryland based deck building company having started together in 2011. In addition to over a decade of industry experience, they also share a passion for design and a love for spending time outdoors; so when the desire to contribute to their community arose, naturally deck building was the answer.
In 2020, Nick and Alex presented their first custom deck quote to their very first Royal Deck client in Naperville, IL. Since then, Royal Deck has grown from one small crew led by two co-founders to a full team of expert estimators, detail oriented project managers, and passionate building crews serving the Chicagoland and northern Atlanta suburbs. Under the leadership of Nick and Alex, Royal Deck has proudly built over 3,000 decks.

Nick Ceban and Alex Vieru are the Managing Partners and Co-Founders of Royal Deck. As longtime friends and experienced builders, they founded the company with a shared goal of building something family-oriented, rooted in community, and aligned with their passion for design and outdoor living. After choosing Illinois as the place to build their families and long-term roots, they wanted their work to contribute meaningfully to the neighborhoods they now call home.
Nick and Alex began their decking careers together in 2011 as crew members for a Maryland-based deck building company, gaining hands-on experience across all stages of construction. That foundation, paired with over a decade in the industry, continues to shape how Royal Deck approaches every project today.
Their personal philosophy is simple and consistent across both Illinois and Georgia operations: build decks that respect the home, the climate, and the homeowner’s investment. Every structure is treated as a permanent extension of the home, built with intention, durability, and long-term performance in mind.
